A Few Words From The Coach
As we brush aside the disappointment of a narrow miss in 2020, the 2021 campaign is being driven by a new brigade of passionate and committed SHOC footballers. A number of off-season departures has created a wave of opportunities for players who bided their time in recent years but have staked their claims over the pre-season.
Expertly guided again by fitness and conditioning Coach Matt Penhall, our players have been developing a foundation of fitness which will give them every opportunity to play the brand of high-pressure, attacking football that we again strive to put on show for our supporters.
Along with play ing opportunities, 2021 will see a changing of the guard in our leadership group with some exciting announcements to come. We look ahead to the season with optimism and the expectation that we will continue to be supremely competitive in Division 2 of the Adelaide Footy League. I am delighted to announce that I will again be supported by Lachy Button (Senior Assistant – midfield) and Nick Kay (Assistant – defence/development). In addition, we are thrilled to announce Adam Floreani as our B-grade coach. Adam has already demonstrated a noted capacity to lead and a passion to get the best out of the playing group. We welcome ‘Adsy’ and wish him well on his coaching journey. In addition, Tim ‘Big Show’ Griffith takes the reins of the mighty C-Men. TG brings a wealth of playing experience, premiership success and a genuine care for his footy club. I know our boys are going to love playing for the great man.
We also are striving to build on the success of the 2020 Under-18 premiership campaign. It has been heartening to see the obvious desire by so many boys to continue with SHOC and how their enthusiasm has inspired many of the ‘next generation’ to jump on board in 2021.
However, it is through the generous and selfless support of our sponsors that we are able to do what we do. The benefits of community football span far beyond the boundary line as sporting clubs offer support, comradeship and connection for our players, officials and volunteers. One of our core values is community and it is through this community that we all grow and benefit. As such, I call on our sponsors to again get behind the SHOC Double Blue and beat the drum loud as we continue to put in place the building blocks to ensure the sustainability and growth of our great club.

In order to keep you up to date throughout the season we will continue to email the weekly newsletter each Friday. Presentations will be held at the Bay Motel Hotel at 6.30 pm sharp after every game and we would like to see you there.
