SHOCFC announces 2016 Coaching Structure

With 2015 done and dusted, the committee has well and truly started it’s planning for 2016.  At the top of the agenda was how to continue the development of our players and coaches.  Club President, Scott Collins, outlines the decision making process here.  “With the departure of some of our coaches from last year and some important changes in the coaching structure I thought it important to outline these changes to our sponsors and supporters for season 2016”  says Scott.

2016 Coaching Structure

Director of Coaching Position – Unanimous recommendation is for this role to be implemented to assist all club coaches and to provide a continuity of coaching philosophies, and to mentor and develop coaches and players through all grades. Andrew Underwood has agreed to take this role on in 2016. His mandate will be to align all coaches through A, B, C and U/18 grades to ensure consistency of game style and structure through the club.

B Grade coach – yet to be confirmed. This role is currently vacant and I would be happy to hear from anyone willing to take on this important role in 2016.

C Grade Coach – Heath Treacy

Under 18 Coach – Andrew Underwood

Undies will continue as the under 18 coach for 2016 with the assistance of David Underwood, but we will develop a succession plan for 2017. We are looking at options including for a current player to assist in developing his coaching skills with Undies in 2016 with a view to taking on the position in 2017. Or canvassing some current parents of lads to assist in 2016 with a view to taking on this role in 2017. The Under 18 coach is crucial in developing a pathway for SHC kids to come to SHOCFC. This role is as much about planning and organising as it is coaching.

Fitness Coach – TBC.
We are currently targeting a dedicated fitness coach to develop / run pre-season (1 Dec to 31 Mar) . This should involve endurance, skill development and strength and conditioning work. Once again if anyone has an interest in this role please contact myself or one of the coaches for more info.

I would like to congratulate Kits and Undies on their new roles with the SHOCFC. We are extremely privileged to have these 2 guys on board in an official capacity for 2016. Adam is looking forward to working with both of them and they will bring a wealth of football and life experience to assist our young playing group.

From the A grade coaching team last year, Pat Lambert and Nick Yeomans have decided to step back due to work and family commitments. Spud and the club would like to thank them for their commitment and assistance over the past few seasons, they have made an excellent contribution to the SHOCFC. We would also like to thank Michael Sweatman and Floyd O’Toole, our B Grade Coaches for the past 3 years. Their commitment to the SHOCFC is unquestioned, and their passion and hard work has been exceptional and they will hopefully stay connected with SHOCs in some form in the future.
