Dave Maglieri achieved what every kid dreams about – an after the siren goal to allow the Div 2 Reserves to progress to the semi final round of the 2013 Final series.
After a close fought tussle in which SHOC jumped away to a handy lead during the second quarter, PAOC fought back strongly to charge ahead in the dying moments of the game.The SHOC boys never gave up though, and fought it out right to the final siren. With the ball trapped on the SHOC half forward line, an untidy tackle from the PAOC defenders gave Dave Maglieri the chance to steal the game after the final siren.
With nerves of steel, Maglieri calmly slotted the goal from about 30, despite a mass of players milling on the goal line. The celebrations started directly after the game and continued well into the night.
