After an extremely exciting finish to the season last year with our great finals run the coaches and the committee have worked harder than ever in the off-season to ensure we are as competitive as possible in Division One this year. We are really excited to have attracted a number of quality players to the club, some who have been playing reserves footy in SAANFL and some returning to SHOCs after time away.
A grade coach Adam ‘Spud’ Marling and has done a power of work to on the recruiting front and his commitment is phenomenal. We have over 20 new or returning players to the club this year which, along with some of our under 18s from last year pushing into senior football, will improve our depth. I suspect we won’t be the most experienced side in Div 1, but we will be committed, fit, fast and exiting to watch.
On a club front we have gone with just the 3 teams this year and forgone the D grade. This is disappointing but after not having enough players last year and folding the D grade after Round 6 the committee decided we needed to consolidate for a year. This has presented us however with the opportunity to enter our C grade in the C1 competition which consists of similar teams to the Division 1 comp. As a result we have been able to program 8 triple headers during the year with the C grade starting at 10:15am, B grade at 12:15pm and the A grade 2:15pm.
