Here’s a sneak peek of the Heritage Jumpers to be worn by the A and B grade sides on the 28th April against Gaza at the Main Oval, prior to the 50 Year Celebration that evening at the Morphettville Racecourse. The name of every player who has played at least 1 game for the SHOCFC appears on the front of the 1968 original style guensey, whilst the back includes a list of all the premierships as well as likenesses of all the guernseys worn by the Footy Club during our 50 year existence. I think they look terrific. I hope you do too!
You’ll have the opportunity to buy one of these guernseys on the night. There will be 2 specially framed guernseys offered by Auction. You’ll even get to choose the number you want on your guernsey if you’re one of the successful bidders!
The guernseys worn on the day will also be available to bid on at a silent auction.
The Football Club will be donating the proceeds from one of the auctioned guernseys to Cystic Fibrosis. This cause is close to the hearts of the Footy Club, as 200 game player Todd de Visser and his wife Elle’s baby boy Parker has recently been diagnosed with CF. The de Visser family, including long time supporters and BBQ managers (and Todd, Cam & Ryan’s mum and dad) John and Gail are special members of our community and it’s families like these that have made the Footy Club such a great place to belong.
We’re also excited to let you know that we’ve been able to secure 2 tickets to this year’s AFL Grand Final. This will be the major prize, among others, in a raffle to be conducted on the night. So make sure you are at the show to give yourself a chance of winning this great prize.
The 50 Year celebration event will be all about reliving the glory days with the mates you’ve made at this special footy club. The price of all tickets is $130 per person and includes all your food, drink, live entertainment and the great company you’ll share with the SHOCFC community. Justin Ganley will MC the night, but formalities will be kept to a minimum. That’s right, no long boring speeches!
Response to the promotion of this event has been fantastic, so much so that we’ve had to move the event to a larger room at the racecourse. We’re now in the biggest room available. BUT, there is only 6 weeks to go, so please make sure you jump on the website and book your ticket. We’d implore you to do this now so we make sure we get the catering and booze right well before the event.
Just to clarify a question asked by a few people over the journey. There will be no group tables. It is a stand up event. BUT, there will be plenty of couches and tables & chairs should you wish to sit down. You just can’t book a group table.
We’re also excited to let you know that a new series of “SHOCFC Front Bar” will be coming out soon. This series will concentrate more on the early years of the Footy Club and feature some legendary coaches and players from the 70’s and 80’s – John Pick, Randall Smith, Clem Case and Tim Kenneally. Keep your eyes peeled on the inbox or Facebook for this, it should be very entertaining!
