Spud’s Early Season Review…

Consistency is what the Division 1 group are looking to improve on for the rest of the season, both individually  & as a team.

We currently sit 7th on the ladder with a 2-5 win loss record, with wins coming against Adelaide Uni & Port Districts.  Both Tea Tree Gully & PNU got the better of us but looking to improve next time we play them.

All three other games against Henley, Goodwood & ROCs we had our chances to win, we just let the opposition get the better of us for short periods during the game.  The pleasing thing to come out of this is our best footy is around the mark and we can match it with the best of them in Division 1.

As a group we need to become more consistent across all four quarters and I’m confident we can turn these close losses into wins. We are a young team & it’s going to take time to adapt to Division 1’s high standard of footy but I’m more than confident we will continue to gel as a team, become more consistent and as usual come home strong in the back end of the season.

Our boys win State honours

Both Matt Delmenico & Mitch Parr are in the state Under 23 squad to play down  Tasmania on our next bye.  I wish them all the best in making the team (inside word is they are both a sure thing with the form they are in).

A few other individuals that have taken to Div 1 footy like a duck to water are:

  • Shaun Keen who has been one of our shining lights up forward along with Harry Kitschke (both boys under 21)
  • Matt Crettenden’s  leadership & presence has been outstanding both forward & back.
  • Our work horse ruckman, Connor Hartshorne never ceases to amaze me with his commitment to the team & his never give up attitude.
  • New comer Nick Jordan has been a big welcome to the club this year and is showing he is up to Div 1 footy with some impressive footy down back.

Our final two games to complete our round 1 draw are Salisbury Nth away & Portland at the Bay Oval. We look forward to these two challenges & will be doing everything we can to get the points.

The boys love the support from the sponsors, parents and supporters and I know we will continue to get better as the year goes on & find the consistence we are looking for.
